Hello. I've been taking photos for a long time, but taking photography more seriously over the last couple years.

Basically, it started with family. I saw friends with better-than-iPhone pictures of their kids and thought, hey, I could do that. All I need is a better camera. I was right - and wrong.

I went out and bought a Canon Rebel (T4i) and a couple lenses (15-85, 50 f1.4, 40 f2.8) and was on my way. Indeed, a better camera resulted in better pictures. The walk-around gave me better flexibility, the 50 gave me better bokeh, and the 40 gave me more discretion in intimate settings.

The real key though was signing up to Lynda.com. I'm the kind of guy who loves to learn and geek out about tech stuff. I'm also the kind of guy who loves to break rules and create new things. Photography, it turns out, is the sweet spot between these two inclinations. And Lynda (or YouTube if you hunt for it, or Kelby probably, or any other outlet) is an awesome resource for learning about all these things.

So this site is an eternal work-in-progress. A journey for me - and a journal of what I've learned along the way. If anyone is listening, I hope you find it useful...
